WWU stands in support of Asian American and Pacific Islander communities

""

In the midst of rising anti-Asian racism across our country, Walla Walla University stands in support of Asian American and Pacific Islander individuals and communities. We are deeply troubled by the attacks that continue to target members of these communities, and we are committed to maintaining a campus that is safe and supportive for all students and employees.

“WWU is a welcoming community that seeks to provide an inclusive, vibrant environment in order to help develop compassionate individuals and foster the beauty of diversity. We want those in our Asian American and Pacific Islander communities to know that we support you,” said John McVay, WWU总统.

WWU encourages any university student, 教师, or staff member who has experienced discrimination or extra challenges during this difficult time to reach out to the WWU Office of 多样性 and Inclusion. Concerns or reports of harassment or discrimination can be anonymously reported at herbalifa.com/discrimination-report. 学生 are also invited to reach out to one of the officers of the WWU Asia Pacific Islander Club for conversation, connection, and support.

“We want you to know we are here to help you with the resources you need to persevere through the challenges of today. You are not alone. WWU is a safe and welcoming place for you. Please know we care and are praying for you,” said Pedrito Maynard-Reid, assistant to the president for diversity and inclusion.
